Potassium Iodate
Potassium Iodate is a chemical compound. It is an oxidizing agent.
Description
The process involves dissolving Iodine in Potassium Hydroxide and after electrolytic oxidation using TSIA in an annular flow cell. At the end of the electrolysis the electrolyte is cooled to get potassium iodate. After filtration the electrolyte is recycled to the cell feed.
Chemical Reaction
3I2 + 6KOH → KIO3 + 5KI + 3H2O
Application
- Iodization of table salt
- In Bakery
