Potassium Perchlorate

Potassium Perchlorate is the inorganic salt with the chemical formula KClO4. It is a strong oxidizing agent. It is a colorless crystalline solid.

It is used in fireworks, ammunition for percussion caps, explosives primers. It is also used in propellants, flash composite and sparklers.

Process

Potassium perchlorate is prepared industrially by aqueous solution of sodium perchlorate with potassium chloride.

NaClO4 + KCl → KClO4 + NaCl

Raw Materials

  • Sodium Perchlorate
  • Potassium Chloride
